Becoming Active Readers
This year we will spend time becoming better active readers. We had a little practice with this already.
Think back to today's lesson:
What does it mean to "read actively"?
How will reading actively help you become a better reader?
What things can you do to help you become an active reader?

Good Readers
Good readers use the reading comprehension strategies as they read. You have heard me say this several times already and we have completed only the first month of school. The reading comprehension stratgies include
- making connections
- asking questions
- visualizing
- predicting
- inferring
- activating your prior knowledge
- monitoring your comprehension
- determining what's important
- syntheszing
